Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring strong liver, heart, lung, and kidney transplant experience.

Details

• Teaching hospital setting within the Operating Room department
• 230 staffed beds
• Day shift, 4x10 hours, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
• On-call required: 1 shift per week plus two 12-hour weekend shifts per month
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
• Not eligible for block scheduling
• Utilizes Misonix/CUSA equipment
• Cases include general surgery, transplant, and organ donation procedures
• Uses electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, Hana table, and Steris equipment
• Charting completed in Epic

Requirements

• Active FL or compact RN license required
• Active AHA or American Red Cross ACLS and BLS certifications required at time of submission
• NIHSS certification required prior to start
• No pending licenses or certifications accepted
• Minimum 2 years of direct liver/transplant OR RN experience required
• Experience must include organ implantation, not just organ procurement
• Proficiency in Misonix/CUSA required
• Skills checklist must reflect strong liver, heart, lung, and kidney transplant experience
• One professional reference required from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the OR specialty
• Non-supervisory references will not be accepted

Additional Information

• Provide perioperative nursing care for general surgery and multi-organ transplant procedures including heart, kidney, liver, and lung
• Responsibilities include infection control, specimen handling and labeling, laser safety, wound management, and urinary bladder catheterization
• Follows Universal Protocol (time out) procedures for all cases
• Scrub color is Ceil Blue
• Smoke-free facility; all travelers must be nicotine-free with a negative 10-panel drug screen including cotinine
• COVID-19 and flu vaccines required with medical or religious exemptions only
• EKG and pharmacology tests required during orientation with a maximum of 2 attempts each and no remediation
• Time-sensitive orientation modules must be completed promptly upon confirmation
• Travelers expected to work every other holiday
• Strict no call-in policy enforced by the facility
• All RTO must be submitted and discussed at time of interview; late RTO requests are unlikely to be approved
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Returning permanent or per diem staff must wait 1 year from previous end date before returning
