Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Tele Float Pool position requiring cardiac drip titration skills and floating between Telemetry, MedSurg, CV, and Neuro units.

Details

• 13-week travel assignment in an acute care hospital setting on a Tele Float Pool covering MedSurg, CV, and Neuro units
• Floats between multiple units including ICU, Cardiac Tele, all Tele units, MedSurg, and various holding areas such as Cath Lab, ER, and observation floor
• Floating may also occur between two campuses located 9 miles apart, with clock-out/clock-in required when changing locations
• Notification of unit and campus assignment given 1.5 hours prior to shift start, with mid-shift floating possible
• Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts (7p-7a)
• Weekend requirements vary by unit, ranging from every other weekend to 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Patient ratios range from 1:3 to 1:4 depending on unit
• Uses Cerner EMR
• Tele monitoring includes centralized tele monitoring and GE Monitors with central monitoring station tech
• Common patient populations include post cath lab, post vascular, CABG day 2, general tele, neuro post-surgical, post craniotomy, spine, post-TPA CVA, ortho, surgical, oncology, urological, abdominal, and general MedSurg cases

Requirements

• Active AZ or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Must be able to titrate cardiac drips including Amio, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin, and Dobutamine (titrate down only)
• Must be able to interpret EKGs
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of offer (2 attempts maximum) prior to contract signing
• Must pass a Sim Lab pass/fail assessment on day one of orientation
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry nursing care with responsibility for interpreting EKGs and titrating cardiac medications
• First to float among staff on the unit
• Charge nurses on each unit do not carry a patient assignment and are supported by a Clinical Supervisor or Unit Supervisor
• 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available
• Navy scrub color required
• Floor-specific orientation ranges from 2 shifts to 2 days depending on unit
• Spectralink phones with call light integration used on MedSurg units
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel positions
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year
• Candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• Facility can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
