Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Burn ICU position requiring MO or compact license and prior ICU-level care experience.

Details

• Work in a 6-bed Burn ICU at a Level 1 Trauma, Stroke, and Cardiac Verified Facility
• Adult-only patient population with mixed acuity ranging from ICU/PCU/Tele to M/S level
• Patient ratios vary based on acuity
• Unit staffed by charge nurses, RNs, nurse externs, and paramedics
• Uses Alaris IV pumps, Hill-Rom beds and call light system, and GE cardiac monitoring equipment
• Documentation via Meditech
• 13-week assignment on 7p-7a night shift
• 3 weekend shifts required within a 4-week scheduling period
• No on-call requirements
• Floats to like units including ICU, PCU, and CCU, with agency staff floated first when needed

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required
• Minimum 1 year of recent ICU experience required
• BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and NIH Stroke certifications required
• ABLS certification preferred but not required
• Burn experience preferred
• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation required
• CRRT training and hemodynamic monitoring/drip titration proficiency preferred
• No employment gaps of 90+ days or more within the past 12 months
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Two professional references required for Missouri assignments

Additional Information

• Provide direct care for burn ICU patients including debridement, dressing changes, line insertions, and chest tube insertion/maintenance
• Support post-op procedural care for burn patients who remain in the unit from admission through discharge
• Work alongside a multidisciplinary team including a dedicated burn surgeon, nurse practitioner, intensivist, rehab, dietary, pharmacy, and case management staff
• Unit supported by 24/7 critical care intensivists and unit-based paramedics
• Access to advanced technology including AirStrip for cardiac rhythms, iMobile phones for provider communication, and a hyperbaric chamber with a dedicated trained hyperbaric RN
• Facility is actively pursuing ABA verification as a Burn Center
• Required uniform includes navy blue scrub top, navy blue or black scrub pants, and a scrub jacket; no t-shirts, hoodies, or sweatshirts allowed
• Must adhere to bedside shift report requirements and uphold facility mission and values
• Travel-friendly unit with a large, experienced core staff and family-like team atmosphere
• First-time travelers may be considered
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
