Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiothoracic ICU position requiring 2+ years of CVICU/CTICU experience and an active VA or compact RN license.

Details

• Care for Cardiothoracic ICU patients, including step-down patients under a universal bed model
• Typical patient ratio of 1:1-2
• Day shift schedule of 3x12 or 4x12 hours (7:00-19:30)
• Every other weekend, floating, and holiday coverage required within the contract
• Must work two of the three winter holidays
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated
• 48-hour contracts available with overtime billed after 48 hours

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU/CTICU experience required
• Proficiency in Epic required
• Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS
• Skilled in arterial line, central line, and PICC line management
• Experience with blood product administration and IV insertion/maintenance
• Proficient in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and procedural sedation administration
• Strong neuro experience required, including post brain surgery and EVD/ventriculostomy care
• Experience with FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
• Skilled in care of multi-system organ failure patients
• Experience with CABG, IABP, Impella, and pre/post cardiac cath or intervention care
• Experience with post cardiac surgery patients, both directly and not directly from OR
• Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring experience required
• Proficient in IV insulin protocols and CVVHD/CRRT
• CVA/acute stroke management experience required
• Skilled in BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator management, and high flow nasal cannula use
• Proficient in ABG interpretation and ETT/NT suctioning
• Experience with infection prevention, isolation precautions, and PPE use
• Experience with surgical wound care, including drains and wound vac management

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a Cardiothoracic ICU setting with step-down patient responsibilities
• Cannot accommodate PAPR fit testing; any history of fit test issues will eliminate candidates from consideration
• EKG proficiency testing required, with a minimum passing score of 80% and no remediation attempts allowed
• 3 hours of pre-start orientation modules required
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
• No prior license or background hits will be accepted for consideration
