Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Tele Float Pool position requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications along with the ability to titrate cardiac drips.

Details

• Acute care Level 1 trauma hospital setting
• Float pool covering Tele, MedSurg, CV, and Neuro units, including ICU, cardiac tele, observation floors, and holding areas as needed
• Floating required between Chandler and Mercy Gilbert campuses, with notification given 1.5 hours prior to shift start
• Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts (7p-7a)
• Weekend requirements vary by unit, generally every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Patient ratios range from 1:3 to 1:4 depending on unit
• Cerner EMR used
• Units include CV Tele (32 beds), Neuro Tele (28 beds), and MedSurg (29-32 beds) with Ortho, Surgical, and Oncology populations
• Centralized telemetry monitoring with RNs required to interpret EKGs on cardiac units
• No ventilator management on any unit
• RT and pharmacy coverage available 24/7

Requirements

• Active AZ or Compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Must be able to titrate cardiac drips (Amio, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin, Dobutamine) down only
• Ability to interpret EKGs required
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of offer, prior to signing contract
• Must pass a Sim Lab competency test on day one of orientation
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across multiple telemetry and medical-surgical units, adjusting to shifting assignments based on facility needs
• Care for post-cath lab, post-vascular, cardiac surgery, neuro post-surgical, and general medical-surgical patient populations
• Work alongside charge nurses and unit supervisors who do not carry patient assignments
• 2-day floor-specific orientation provided for each unit
• Navy scrub color required
• Candidates who fail the dysrhythmia exam or Sim Lab test will be ineligible for placement with this health system for 6 months
• Candidates must not have been directly employed by any facility within this health system in the past year
• Must maintain permanent residence at least 50 miles from the facility for AZ positions
• First-time travelers may be considered
