Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a CA license, 2+ years of L&D experience, and advanced fetal monitoring certification.
Details
- Acute care Labor & Delivery/Postpartum-Perinatal unit with 12 L&D beds, 10 triage beds, and 12 antepartum beds
- Facility averages approximately 200 births per month
- Follows AWHONN nurse-to-patient ratio guidelines
- Uses Cerner EMR and Fetal Link fetal heart monitoring system
- Charge nurse takes a patient assignment as needed
- 2 OB techs scheduled per shift to assist with deliveries, c-section scrubbing, and supply stocking
- 12-hour day shifts, 7a-7p
- Every other weekend required
- Floats to antepartum and postpartum units, with priority given to travelers for floating
- No call requirement
- 2 OB attendings and 1 neonatologist in-house 24 hours a day
- Respiratory therapy available 24/7 from NICU
- Pharmacy available 24/7
- No IV team on unit
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience required
- Experience with high-risk deliveries required
- Familiarity with pitocin, magnesium sulfate, and insulin drips required
- C-section circulating experience required; scrubbing experience preferred
- Travel nursing experience preferred
Additional Information
- Care for high-risk obstetric patients 20 weeks gestation and above, including cases involving hypertension, multiples, diabetes, lack of prenatal care, and substance abuse
- Facility is among the largest birthing centers in California
- 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation required in addition to general orientation
- Scrubs are provided and must be sterile
- Acrylic or overlay nails are not permitted during the assignment
- Holiday coverage required for one major and two minor holidays
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
