Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse - Telemetry for a night shift position requiring 2 years of telemetry experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Telemetry unit setting caring for adult to geriatric patients
• Common diagnoses include CHF, MI/chest pain (pre- and post-cath), dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), hypo-/hypertension, pleural effusion, sepsis, and PE/DVT/vascular issues
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5 on a 16-room unit
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend required unless specified otherwise
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and rapid response/code team utilization required
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a cardiac telemetry unit including monitoring, medication management, and emergency response
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Maximum 7 days of RTO per contract, which must be finalized prior to submission
• No RTO permitted during orientation week
• Holiday coverage required: if 1-2 major holidays fall during the assignment, no holiday RTO may be requested; if 3 major holidays occur, one holiday RTO request may be considered
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Prior permanent, PRN, or internal staff must be away from all facilities within the health system for one full year before returning as a traveler
• Returning travelers who were cancelled or deemed unable to return must complete one successful assignment outside the health system before reapplying
