Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN with a neuro focus for a night-shift position requiring 2 years of experience and BLS/ACLS certification

Details

• Neuro-focused Medical Surgical unit within a hospital setting
• General medicine patient population with a focus on neurological diagnoses including CVA
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts (18:45-07:15)
• 36 or 48 hour weekly options accepted
• Every other weekend requirement (5-6 weekend shifts)
• Floating required, with travelers floated first
• Uses Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication systems
• Contract staff may be assigned to Storm/Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending license/certs OK for consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• 2 years of RN experience required (hard requirement)
• Neuro experience preferred
• Charge RN experience or willingness to learn preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Skills in isolation precautions/PPE, IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
• Non-invasive airway management and nasal cannula experience
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

• Provide medical-surgical nursing care with an emphasis on neurological and cerebrovascular patients
• Teamwork-focused approach to patient care with strong emphasis on patient safety
• 24 hour unit orientation provided, scheduled weekly
• Scrubs not provided; navy blue scrubs required
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Up to 7 days RTO can be auto-approved (excluding holidays); no RTO allowed during first week of assignment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of facility
• Former Novant Health/New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying and disclose employment history for facility approval
• Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between travel or per diem status
• Travel pairs allowed if placed on different units with disclosure and independent transportation
