Description

American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN for a night shift contract requiring 2 years of critical care experience and MD or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work in a 10-bed ICU with an average daily census of 8
• Patient ratio of 1:2, occasionally up to 1:3 for low acuity patients
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Floating required within specialty, lower acuity units, and sister facilities as needed
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses EPIC EMR system
• Royal blue scrub color required

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD state or Compact) required at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA only for BLS/ACLS)
• CPI certification required (Calm Every Storm online version only accepted vendor)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU/critical care experience required
• Strong critical care skills required including IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, ventilator management, and cardiac drip titration
• Experience with CRRT/CVVHD, EVD, ICP monitoring, and hemodynamic monitoring preferred
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct critical care nursing to ICU patients including ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and administration of vasoactive and sedation medications
• Care for patients with multisystem organ dysfunction, acute stroke, and post-craniotomy needs
• Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments with no scheduling restrictions or special requests accepted
• First-time travelers accepted if they have strong critical care experience and skills
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted unless otherwise specified
• Maximum RTO request of 7 days; requests of more than 4 consecutive days require an additional week added to the contract
• Returning staff must be separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Returning travelers must have at least a 6-month break from the system before reapplying
• Extensions typically limited to one contract and one extension before a 6-month break is required
