Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN with strong post-surgical skills for a night shift position requiring an active MI RN license.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit setting
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Patient ratios of 1:6, which may flex higher with on-site support staff available
• Floating required to other Med/Surg units, ICU, and ED waiting area to care for Med/Surg patients as needed
• Every other weekend requirement
• No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

• Active Michigan RN license required
• Current BLS (AHA) and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
• Minimum 1.5 years of Med/Surg or PCU experience required
• Strong post-surgical competencies required
• Skilled in telemetry remote monitoring, colostomy care, feeding tube management, and pre/post hemodialysis management
• Experience accessing ports, blood product administration, and peripheral/PICC line care and management
• Proficient in starting IVs and administering Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
• Experience managing surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), and tracheostomy care
• Skilled in non-invasive airway management including HFNC, nasal cannula, oral suctioning, and oxygen delivery devices
• Experience with isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac management

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care to post-surgical and general Med/Surg patients
• Holiday coverage is required, with RTO during holidays remaining flexible to accommodate staffing needs
