Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Med Surg position requiring strong cardiac experience and a compact or ID nursing license.

Details

• Acute care setting on a Cardiac Med Surg unit (3N) within a Level 2 trauma facility
• 30-bed unit with a mix of private and semi-private rooms
• Primary patient population includes CHF, bradycardic and tachycardic arrhythmias, pre/post pacemaker, pre/post cardiac cath, NSTEMI, and rule-out chest pain patients
• Unit also takes general medical overflow patients
• Standard nurse-to-patient ratio of about 1:5
• 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
• Weekend shifts required based on unit need
• May float to other Med Surg units
• May float to PCU if candidate has 1 year of PCU experience
• Uses EPIC EMR, Fresenius Ivenix pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing system

Requirements

• Active RN license, ID State or compact license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA)
• Minimum 3 years of Med/Surg experience with strong cardiac experience required
• Experience managing heparin drips, chest tubes, and discontinuing central lines required
• Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program
• ADN or diploma required; BSN or higher preferred

Additional Information

• Responsible for managing heparin drips, chest tube patients, and central line discontinuation, along with ortho and neuro patients
• Support available from nurse aides for vitals, blood sugars, ADLs, and ambulation
• Free-standing charge nurse role with access to an educational resource nurse and a rapid response nurse for emergencies
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Orientation includes approximately 24 hours of coursework and 24 hours of unit-based orientation
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for the position
