Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for an Observation Unit position requiring an active MI RN license and at least 1 year of med/surg experience.
Details
- Night shift position (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) in a 225-bed specialty care hospital's Observation Unit
- Trauma Level 2 facility within the Heart & Vascular Institute and broader hospital system
- Cares for adult patients (18+) meeting observation status criteria, including chest pain, asthma exacerbation, TIA, abdominal pain, urinary issues, blood sugar issues, DVT/PE, cellulitis, post-procedural monitoring, and minor trauma
- Approximate patient ratio of 1:5 with no strictly defined ratios
- Uses cardiac monitoring equipment and Cerner EHR
- Must work weekends and holidays on an every-other-weekend rotation
- Float requirements to Medical, Cardiac, and Neuro-Ortho units
- No mandated call requirements
- No guarantee on block scheduling
Requirements
- Active MI RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIH Stroke Scale competency and Tele/ECG competency required
- Minimum 1 year of med/surg experience required
- Telemetry experience preferred
- BSN preferred
- TNCC and ENPC certifications are optional but welcomed
Additional Information
- Provide direct observation-level nursing care for a variety of acute conditions
- Bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Reports to the ED Director
- Galaxy blue scrub color required
- Candidates must reside 60 miles or greater from the facility to be considered for the travel rate
- Cannot have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months
- Cannot be employed elsewhere on a full-time basis
