Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 1 year of specialty experience and a TN or compact RN license.
Details
- 30-bed Med/Surg unit with a 1:6 patient ratio
- Supported by 2-3 techs per shift, a clinical coordinator, charge nurse, manager, and director
- Equipment used includes wound vac, heparin gtt, suction, IV pumps, glucometers, bladder scanner, feeding pump, and telemetry
- Uses Editech documentation system
- Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
- Floating required between 2 North and 2 West units
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed
Requirements
- Active TN or compact RN license required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience required
- Skilled in IV starts, NGT placement, wound care, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Experience performing lab draws and IV starts
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Responsible for providing positive patient and family experiences, including service recovery and escalation through the chain of command as needed
- Navy scrubs required; no fleece or sweatshirts permitted
- Unit culture emphasizes a family environment, visible leadership, self-scheduling, and a strong learning atmosphere
- Recognition programs include Daisy and Bee awards, patient heal cards, and colleague-to-colleague recognition
- Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
