Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring VA or compact RN license and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Post-surgical unit caring for urology and GYN surgical populations
• High-volume 6W Med/Surg Tele unit
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Typical patient ratio is 1:7
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required
• Holiday coverage required, including two of the three winter holidays

Requirements

• Active VA or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration, no exceptions
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Minimum of two years recent relevant experience required
• One year experience with 1:7 patient ratio required
• Epic charting system proficiency required, no exceptions
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, feeding tube care, heparin protocols, PCA, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, rapid response/code team collaboration, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, IV insulin protocols, oxygen administration, tracheostomy care, and surgical drain management
• Must pass a telemetry EKG proficiency exam with a score of 80% or higher, single attempt only, no remediation available

Additional Information

• Care for post-surgical patients including urology and GYN populations
• Located in the Coastal Virginia region near Virginia Beach and Norfolk with access to outdoor recreation
• Facility cannot accommodate PAPR fit testing; any history of fit test issues will disqualify candidates
• Candidates with any prior license or background hits will not be considered
• Requested time off must be submitted in advance and will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility will not be considered for RN positions
• First-time travelers are not preferred for this position
