Description

American Traveler is hiring a Neuro ICU RN for a Level II Trauma facility, requiring 1 year of neuro critical care experience and an active Alabama or Compact RN license.

Details

• Neuro ICU setting within a Level II Trauma facility with 420 staffed beds
• Patient population includes ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, post-thrombectomy patients, traumatic brain injuries, status epilepticus, and spinal cord injuries
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift, 3x12 or 4x12 by traveler preference, 18:45-07:15, with block scheduling accommodations available
• Every other weekend required
• Float requirement to CCU as needed
• Uses intracranial pressure monitors and external ventricular drains
• Epic charting system used

Requirements

• Active Alabama RN license or Compact license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of neuro critical care experience required
• Experience in large healthcare facilities required
• Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central and PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience managing ventilated patients and suctioning (ETT, NT) required
• Experience with continuous IV sedation and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips required
• CVA/acute stroke management and post-neurosurgery management experience required
• Experience with external ventricular drains, ICP monitoring, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury care preferred
• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management skills required
• Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure preferred
• Two professional references required for consideration
• Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide neurocritical care nursing to patients with complex neurological conditions requiring intensive monitoring and intervention
• Scrub color requirement: all navy or navy bottoms with a white top
• Facility recognized as a Best-In-State employer by Forbes for three consecutive years
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates will not be accepted, and a 90-mile radius rule applies from the facility
• Former permanent staff are not eligible for travel roles for 10 years following separation
• Travelers must take a 6-month break after completing 2 consecutive contracts before returning
