Description

American Traveler is hiring a Step-down/PCU RN for night shifts requiring PCU experience, telemetry skills, and MO or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Step-down/PCU unit in a short-term acute care, teaching, trauma hospital setting
• Patient ratios of 1:2-3 across all shifts
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Option to sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within service line, including to Med-Surg units
• EPIC charting system used

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required (compact must match permanent residence)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of PCU/step-down experience required
• BSN preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with ventilator management, IV starts, telemetry, long-term vent weaning, pulmonary rehab, and tracheostomy care required
• Skilled in phlebotomy, central line care, port access, and ABG draws (preferred)
• Facial hair must allow for proper fit testing or will be required to shave

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, vent and trach care alongside respiratory therapy, and IV/central line management
• Navy scrubs required
• No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius of the facility
• RTO limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
• All RTO must be finalized at time of submission with no changes permitted afterward
• Contract length is firm at 13 weeks
• Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
• Standard travelers may stay up to 18 months, followed by a required 3-month break in service
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
