Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a fast-paced, Level II Trauma Emergency Department, requiring prior travel and PEDS experience.

Details

• Combined Adult/Pediatric Emergency Department in a Level II Trauma Center
• Average daily census of 70 with 160 visits per day across 36 rooms and 50 beds
• Evening shift schedule (3x12 hours), 3:00pm-3:30am
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating expected to ICU and ED under a Helping Hands/Team Nursing model, including patient sitting duties
• Patients are only assigned within your clinical team assignment
• Cares for patients across the lifespan with diagnoses ranging from minor injuries to complex trauma, cardiac, neurological, psychiatric, and OB emergencies
• Performs special procedures including conscious sedation, trauma/stroke alerts, cath lab activation, and SANE consultations
• Uses specialized equipment including Point of Care US/USGPIV, EPOC, Belmont, Ranger, and Teleneurology
• Utilizes Omnicell, Epic, SBAR, and Voalte for medication, documentation, and communication

Requirements

• Active RN license (NH or Compact) required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, PALS, and TNCC
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• Level II Trauma Center experience required; Level I Trauma experience preferred
• Strong PEDS population experience highly preferred
• Prior travel experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with neurological and CVA emergency care
• Experience administering emergency medications
• Triage skills required

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across a wide range of chief complaints and acuities, from minor injuries to complex trauma and medical emergencies
• Unit orientation is 36 hours, consisting of one week of class and clinical time
• Scrubs may be any color
• Must work 2 of 3 winter holidays
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Former employees of any facility associated with the health system are not eligible for consideration, regardless of separation length
• Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at a reduced rate
