Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Step Down/Telemetry unit position requiring a VA or compact RN license and Epic charting experience.
Details
- Step Down (PCU/DOU/IMC) unit within a hospital setting
- Cardiac telemetry patient population with 1:3 patient ratios
- Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required, with 2 of 3 winter holidays covered
- Uses Epic EMR system
- Subject to UVA's facility float policy
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Step Down/telemetry nursing experience
- Required Epic EMR charting experience
- BSN preferred
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, central/PICC line management, arterial line management, and blood product administration
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy management
- Experience monitoring and interpreting cardiac dysrhythmias and responding to rapid response/code situations
- Two professional references required
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to cardiac telemetry and step down level patients, including medication management and dysrhythmia monitoring
- Perform wound care, isolation precautions, and management of insulin drips as needed
- Float within scope of practice per facility policy
- Maximum of 40 hours RTO approved per 13-week contract; must be disclosed at time of submission
- Any planned vacation between sign date and start date must be disclosed to determine an appropriate start date
- Previous UVA Health employees (permanent staff or travelers) must have at least a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
