Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU/Telemetry night shift position requiring 2 years of stepdown experience and at least one completed travel assignment.
Details
- Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU/IMC/Stepdown)
- Cardiac and neurological telemetry patient population, including CVA cases
- Patient ratio of 1:4-5
- Charting completed in Cerner
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30), 36 hours per week
- 10 weekend shifts required per contract
- Floating required to units of equivalent or lower acuity when census drops
Requirements
- Active RN license (MD or compact license required)
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- 2 years of recent PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown telemetry experience within the last 7 years required
- Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment
- Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with IV therapy, central/PICC line management, and blood product administration
- Experience with BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and oxygen administration
- Experience with cardiac drip titration and heparin protocols
- Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment
Additional Information
- Provide telemetry-based nursing care within a stepdown/PCU setting
- Responsible for cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response activation as needed
- Navy blue/white scrubs required; scrubs not provided
- Flu vaccine required for all employees
- Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower rate
- No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
- Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
