Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU night shift position requiring 2 years of CVICU experience and at least one completed travel assignment.

Details

Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) with an average daily census of 1-8 patients across 8 staffed beds
Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 19:00-7:00
1:2 patient ratio
On-call requirement of 4 call shifts within a 6-week schedule
Required to work every third weekend
Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
Uses Cerner/Med Connect for charting and Pyxis for medication administration
Follows SBAR and shift note communication protocols

Requirements

Active RN license (MD state license or compact license) required
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU experience required
Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment
Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
Experience with post cardiac surgery patients (not directly from the OR)
Comfortable admitting and caring for POD 1 fresh heart patients
Experience assisting with chest tube insertion/removal
Experience caring for ventilated patients
Proficient with pacer, temporary pacer, and transvenous pacer management
Experience with IV insulin protocols
Lumbar drain experience preferred
Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment
Must support at least 2 years of experience within the previous 3 years

Additional Information

Provide critical care nursing to cardiovascular surgery and cardiac patients requiring advanced monitoring and intervention
Navy blue scrubs required
Flu vaccination required for all employees
Candidates must reside within 60 miles for local rate consideration; local candidates are accepted at a reduced rate
Driver's license must be provided at time of consideration and must match candidate's address for local status determination
Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment, with a maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
Candidates must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with at least 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms
Manager interviews are not guaranteed
