Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN with 2 years of experience and prior travel assignment history for a 13-week day shift contract.
Details
- Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
- Day shift schedule, three 12-hour shifts weekly (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Cares for patients requiring cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown, and CVA monitoring
- Performs IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management
- Manages respiratory needs including BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
- Administers medications and manages heparin protocols
- Provides cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team support
- Manages wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
- Provides pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
Requirements
- Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Altera charting system experience preferred but not required
- Central line care/management, PICC line management, and blood product administration skills preferred
- ABG interpretation and tracheostomy care/management skills preferred
Additional Information
- Must complete facility-administered drug screen upon arrival, which includes marijuana testing; a positive result results in automatic cancellation
- Candidates should avoid any substances, including CBD products, that could result in a positive drug screen
- Must reside within 150 miles of the facility; local candidates not accepted
- Previous permanent staff must have separated from employment for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Must be available to complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting an offer or provide a completion plan
- Orientation includes non-billable modules averaging 6-8 hours
- First-time travelers may be considered on an individual basis
