Description

American Traveler is hiring a General Ultrasound Technologist for a night shift position at a Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring proficiency in abdominal doppler imaging and transplant studies.

Details

  • General Ultrasound Tech position with varying daily caseload
  • 3x12 hour night shifts, Friday through Sunday, 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
  • No on-call requirements
  • Will float between Main campus and ART as facility needs require
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Equipment includes PACS, Philips, and Siemens ultrasound systems

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience required
  • Must be proficient in abdominal doppler imaging and transplant studies
  • BLS certification required
  • ARDMS or ARRT(S) certification required
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • SC state ultrasound license not required
  • License required if applicable
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Perform general ultrasound studies including OB/GYN, abdominal, vascular, and small parts imaging
  • Skills include abdominal aorta, gallbladder, liver, pancreas, spleen, and renal/bladder imaging
  • Experience with color flow and doppler studies, renal artery duplex, and TIPS procedures preferred
  • Work with adult patients across Emergency Department, ICU, and portable imaging settings
  • Teaching hospital and Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
  • Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma status and 865 staffed beds
  • Scrub requirements are teal tops and black bottoms
  • Radiation badge not required
  • Radius rule of 60 miles applies; local candidates considered case-by-case at a reduced rate
  • Previous perm or PRN staff must be separated from the facility for 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • All RTO must be submitted at time of application and is subject to facility approval
  • Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June through November)

Pros

Everyone was so helpful and nice when i started. beautiful hospital grounds with ample outdoor areas to hang out during breaks/lunch.Amazing cafeteria and always had at least 5 food trucks outside the hospital for linch. Friendly staff including doctors and great patients. patient to staff ratio was awesome and always had a great team mentality of helping everyone out when needed.

Cons

The only con of the area was cost of living especially rent. I rented downtown so I could walk to work but coworkers who lived off of the main downtown area on other islands complained of heavy traffic.
