Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology Med/Surg RN for a Level I Trauma Center, requiring ONC certification and prior travel experience.

Details

• Inpatient Medical Surgical Oncology unit in a Level I Trauma Center
• Team nursing model with 1:6 patient ratios split between RNs, LPNs, med nurse, and charge nurse
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• On-call and weekend coverage as needed
• Weekend block scheduling may be considered
• Floating limited to like units or campuses within a 20-mile radius
• Epic charting system required; Cerner experience preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license in the state or TN/compact license compliant with NLC guidelines
• Minimum 2 years of recent oncology med/surg experience required; 3+ years preferred
• ADN accepted
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and LTAC experience preferred
• At least 1 completed prior travel assignment required; no first-time travelers accepted
• BLS required; ACLS and Chemo (ONS/ONCC) certifications preferred, Chemo certification strongly preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, port access/management, central line and PICC line care, and chemotherapy administration
• Experience managing oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome, sepsis, and anaphylaxis
• Knowledge of psychosocial care, symptom management, and hospice/advanced directive support

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to a diverse oncology population, including breast, lung, colorectal, and hematologic cancers
• Administer chemotherapy and manage associated side effects and emergencies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including med nurses, LPNs, and charge nurses
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) if all fall within assignment, or at least 1 of 2 if only two occur
• Local candidates must reside at least 100 miles from the facility to be considered
• Former permanent staff or travelers must be separated from the facility for at least one year before returning
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
• All RTO must be submitted and approved prior to offer acceptance
