Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring an active IL RN license and at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg unit with 23 beds on the 4th floor and 14 beds on the 3rd floor
• Patient ratios typically 1:5, up to 1:7 as needed
• PCT support available at a 1:8 ratio
• Common diagnoses include NSTEMI, COPD, pneumonia, sepsis, and AKI
• Telemetry monitoring on unit with monitor techs reading strips; RNs sign off throughout shift
• RT equipment limited to home units and heated high flow
• Charge nurse and house supervisor support available
• 12-hour night shifts (7P-7A)
• Every other weekend and every other holiday typically required
• Low census possible but rare; no on-call requirement
• Floating to ICU, ER, or BHC may be required based on experience level; otherwise no floating outside Med/Surg
• Uses EPIC EMR
• One shift of department-specific orientation provided with orientation binder

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Negative drug screen required for all panels (OSF is a Drug-Free Campus)

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to Med/Surg patients with a range of acute diagnoses
• RNs are not required to titrate drips on this unit
• Any scrub color accepted; closed-toed shoes and good hygiene required
• Local rate applies for clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility; no radius restriction on eligibility
• COVID vaccination is not required for this facility
