Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN Case Manager for a Level II Trauma acute care hospital, requiring an active AK RN license, Epic experience, and acute care case management background.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting within the Case Management/Utilization Review department
- Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours (7:00 AM-5:30 PM)
- Every other weekend required, or 4 weekend days within a 4-week schedule
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
- Uses Epic charting system
- Responsibilities include admission criteria review, care coordination, continued stay reviews, discharge planning, needs assessment/DME ordering, plan of care development, and determining medical necessity per evidence-based guidelines
Requirements
- Active AK RN license required in hand
- BLS certification required; ACM-RN certification preferred
- Minimum 1 year of case management experience required; 2 years preferred
- Acute care hospital experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Community hospital and LTAC experience preferred
- Trauma Level II experience preferred
- Familiarity with InterQual Criteria, Milliman Guidelines, and workers' comp case management preferred
- Knowledge of CMS, HIPAA, ICD-10 coding, and Joint Commission/Core Measures/National Patient Safety Goals preferred
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

- Facility is a Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma hospital recognized as a USNWR Best Hospital in Alaska
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Parking is free
- Only 1 time-off request of 5 days or less allowed per 13-week assignment, with no holiday time off
- Must commit to working 3 of the following 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
- Travelers must be willing to float between sister facilities as needed
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are not accepted; permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
- Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside more than 50 miles from the facility
