Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a neuro-focused critical care unit requiring GA or compact RN license and CCRN preferred certification.
Details
- Work in a neuroscience-focused ICU setting
- Patient population includes ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, seizure disorders, craniotomies, complex spinal surgeries, aneurysm coilings/clippings, and thrombectomies
- Staffing ratio of 1:2
- Unit utilizes intracranial pressure monitoring, continuous sedation, vasopressors/vasodilators, external ventricular drains, ventilators, and cerebral oximetry monitoring
- CT scanner and EEG techs stationed on unit for rapid diagnostics
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
- Uses Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR systems
- Floating required
- Core staff given priority for on-call assignments
Requirements
- Active RN license (GA or Compact) required at time of consideration
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required; CCRN preferred
- Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required
- Experience with respiratory/thoracic care and ventilated patients required
- Two supervisory references (Manager level or above) strongly preferred
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to complex neuro-surgical and neuro-critical patients
- Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, which must be finalized at time of consideration
- No RTO requests permitted during orientation week or after offer acceptance
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Permanent, PRN, or internal staff must be away from all facility locations for one full year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers who cancel or are deemed unable to return must complete one assignment elsewhere before reapplying
- Travel pairs cannot be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
