Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced MICU RN for a Magnet teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of medical/oncology ICU experience and WA or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work in the Medical ICU (MICU) of a Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital
- Patient population includes medical and oncology ICU patients with ARDS, multi-system organ failure, septic shock, GI bleeding, complicated pregnancy, oncology, renal failure, and COPD
- Unit cares for patients in all phases of transplant needs with a focus on family-centered care
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- 4x12 Day or Night shifts (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30)
- Weekend work required unless otherwise specified in posted schedule
- Floating within the hospital required; no floating to sister hospitals
- No on-call requirements
- Epic EMR used for charting
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of medical and/or oncology ICU experience required
- Must pass Relias EKG tele compliance test
- Academic medical center experience preferred; strong ICU skills required if lacking this background
- Experience with ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
- Experience managing chronic/acute renal failure, including CVVHD/CRRT
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management
- Experience caring for GI surgery patients
- Oncology experience preferred, including chemotherapy administration
- 2 professional references required, preferably supervisory
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to medically and oncologically complex ICU patients, including end-of-life care
- Candidates should be comfortable with end-of-life care situations
- Facility strongly prefers candidates with prior travel nursing experience, though first-time travelers will be considered
- Scrubs may be any color; OR personnel are provided scrubs
- RTO limited to 7 days in Nov/Dec, may include 1 holiday, and must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
- RTO cannot be requested during orientation week and should be kept to a minimum
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
- Prior UW staff must have a separation period of 18 months before returning as a traveler
- COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
