Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring prior travel experience and skill managing continuous IV cardiac medications.

Details

  • Cardiac Telemetry unit serving overflow IMCU patients
  • Adult to geriatric patient population with 1:5-6 ratio across a 32-bed unit
  • Manages cardiac, CHF, chest pain, renal, and pulmonary (COPD, pulmonary edema, PE, DVT) cases
  • Cares for stable cardiac arrhythmias including A-Fib, SVT, and bradycardia
  • Handles surgical overflow patients (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains)
  • Occasional vascular, post cardiac cath, TR band, DKA, ortho, and CVA overflow patients
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Typically scheduled every other weekend, with permanent staff prioritized for scheduling
  • Floating required within the facility and scope of practice as needed
  • On-call is rare, with a 2-hour response time required
  • Uses Epic (preferred), Pyxis, and SBAR communication systems

Requirements

  • Active RN license, GA or Compact, required at time of submission
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of cardiac telemetry experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Experience managing continuous IV cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, and Nitroglycerin
  • Experience with diuretics (Bumex, Lasix) and anticoagulants (Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin)
  • Insulin drip management experience required
  • Skilled in TR Band care and basic arrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Copies of required certifications needed for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide telemetry nursing care across a diverse cardiac and medical-surgical patient population
  • Responsible for arrhythmia interpretation, management, and cardioversion as needed
  • Scrub color requirement: navy blue
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, which must be finalized prior to starting the assignment
  • No RTO requests permitted during orientation week
  • Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • Permanent, PRN, or internal staff must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before returning as a traveler
  • Travelers previously cancelled or not approved to return must complete one assignment outside of Piedmont before reapplying
