Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele float pool position requiring 2 years of MS/Tele experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Float pool position within the MS/Tele unit of a hospital setting
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00AM to 7:30PM, totaling 36 hours per week
• Patient ratios of 1:4-5
• Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
• Availability required for weekdays and some weekends, including holidays
• Uses EPIC electronic health records system

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a MS/Tele setting
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS preferred
• Proficient in IV start and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with EPIC EHR system
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, central/PICC line management, blood product administration, and phlebotomy
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response/code team protocols
• Experience with wound care/wound vac, IV insulin protocols, and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience in neurological conditions such as CVA, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury preferred
• Orthopedic experience including ortho trauma and total joint replacement preferred
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable for the second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a Med/Surg Tele setting
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills required with attention to detail
• Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly upon signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
• Candidates located outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location soon after booking; those further away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
• RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Locals accepted at the same pay rate
• Former employees eligible for assignment after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for travel assignments
• Travel experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered for this role
