Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring telemetry and IV insulin drip experience within a correctional unit setting.

Details

• MS/Tele unit on a corrections unit housing Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC) inmates
• Locked unit requiring Corrections Officer (CO) access for entry
• Patient population includes active oncology diagnoses (solid tumor and hematology) and patients admitted for other reasons with or without an oncology history
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Rotating Day/Night schedule, 3x12 hour shifts, 36 hours per week
• Rotating schedule changes every 4 weeks between day and night shifts
• Every other weekend required (Friday & Saturday)
• Floating required within OSU facilities

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Previous telemetry experience required
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drips required
• Strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation skills required
• Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams, peripheral line care, and non-invasive airway management
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Any charting system experience accepted

Additional Information

• Provide cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and emergency response care to a medically complex patient population
• Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line management
• Administer oxygen therapy including nasal cannula and oxygen tank use
• Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Candidates with only 1 year of experience will require manager review prior to offer
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6+ months away from the facility
• Current employees are ineligible for travel assignments at this facility
• 2 professional references required, including at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted
• RTO must be submitted with contract and limited to 7 days or less
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract, including travel to an in-state location if needed
