Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for an ICU position requiring a WI or compact RN license and at least 3 years of ICU experience.
Details
- 17-bed ICU within a Level III Trauma Center, Level II NICU, and Primary Stroke Center facility
- Patient ratio of 1:2 based on acuity
- Patient population includes sepsis, ETOH, IVDA, OD, SI, delirium, GI bleeds, strokes with TPA, ARF, COVID, and DKA
- Surgical patients including general, open abdominal, ortho total joints, ENT, and OBGYN
- Cardiac/vascular patients including fempops, CABG, EVAR, valves, post cath, AAA, and amputations
- No complex neuro patients
- 12-hour night shift schedule, 1900-0730, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- No on-call requirements
- May float within scope of practice to intermediate units (1:3), MSU, ED Boarding (1:4), and Observation units (1:4), with travelers floated first
- Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and NxStage CRRT equipment
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 3 years of ICU experience required
- Skilled in vent/trach management, invasive line management (art lines, CVP, Swan-Ganz), drains, chest tubes, foley management, post-surgical recovery, post-cath care, CVVH, and CRRT
- Cardiovascular and CV surgery experience preferred, including IABP and Impella familiarity
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing support in a high-acuity ICU setting
- Unit supported by CNAs, a receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, ICU supervisor, phlebotomy, educator, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
- One day of orientation including educator meet-and-greet, nurse manager introduction, and remainder of shift with a preceptor
- Holiday coverage required once per contract
- RTO requests must be approved through the manager
- Schedules are built in 4-week increments
- Scrubs may be any color, excluding camo, graphics, logos, or designs
- Free parking provided
- More than 2 sick calls may prompt contract review and possible termination
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
- Former employees of the health system or its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months to be eligible
