Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of ED experience and recent Epic experience in a Level III Trauma Center.
Details
- Level III Trauma Center with 375 licensed beds and 46 ED beds, including 5 Safe Psych rooms and a 5-bay Fast Track
- Average of 200 patients per day
- Patient population ranges from pediatrics to geriatrics, including trauma, GSW, sepsis, COVID, STEMI, stroke, DKA, mental health, adult psych, respiratory issues, and high acuity medical cases
- High geriatric population with frequent falls and STEMI presentations
- No invasive neuro procedures such as craniotomies performed
- Small pediatric volume, with most pediatric patients transferred to Mary Bridge
- Day shift ratio of 1:4-5, with flexibility to 5 based on acuity and staffing
- 12-hour mids/nights shift schedule with shift start times of 1500 or 1900
- No floating required
- No on-call requirements
- Schedules provided 3 weeks at a time, distributed approximately 10 days in advance
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, and CPI/MOAB
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
- Recent Epic EMR experience required
- Strong skills in cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV insertion, and ED drip and medication administration
- Experience with procedural sedation, blood administration, and cardiac medications required
- TNK administration experience preferred
- Must pass Traveler Telemetry Competency exam prior to start
Additional Information
- Supported by ED tech, resource/float nurse, charge nurse, ED educator, and 24/7 RT, social work, pharmacy, security, and house supervisor coverage
- Charge nurse rarely takes a patient assignment
- Central and bedside telemetry monitoring available at the nursing station with no dedicated tele tech
- Equipment used includes Alaris pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing system
- Two-day orientation includes NEO, Epic training if needed, time with the educator, and a 12-hour shift with a preceptor
- Holiday coverage required for 2 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Scrubs of any professional color are acceptable
- Modest piercings (studs only) and non-offensive tattoos are permitted
- Free parking available in designated areas
