Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a Level III Trauma Center, requiring 2+ years of ED experience and a WA or compact RN license.
Details
- Level III Trauma Center with 375 licensed beds, including 46 ED beds (5 Safe Psych rooms, Fast Track with 4 hallway spots and 1 room)
- Averages 200 patients per day
- Patient population spans pediatrics to geriatrics, including trauma, GSW, sepsis, COVID, STEMI, stroke, DKA, mental health, and high acuity medical cases
- High geriatric population with frequent falls and STEMI cases
- No invasive neuro procedures (no craniotomies) performed
- Minimal pediatric cases, typically transferred to Mary Bridge
- Day shift ratio of 1:4-5, with flexibility to 5 based on acuity and staffing
- 12-hour Days/Mids and Mids/Nights shifts with varying start times (0700, 1100, 1500, 1900)
- Likely to work a week at a time on an assigned shift, subject to change
- Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs
- Schedule provided 3 weeks at a time, released about 10 days in advance
- No floating required
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis medication system
- Central and bedside telemetry monitoring at the nursing station with no dedicated tele tech
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, and CPI/MOAB
- Recent Epic EMR experience required
- Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV insertion, and ED drip/medication administration
- Experience with procedural sedation, blood administration, and cardiac medications required
- TNK administration experience preferred
- Must complete and pass Traveler Telemetry Competency exam prior to start
Additional Information
- Provide direct emergency care across a wide range of high-acuity patient presentations
- Supported by ER techs, resource/float nurse, 24/7 RT, ED educator, 24/7 security, house supervisor, social work, and pharmacy services
- Charge nurse rarely takes a patient assignment
- Two-day orientation includes NEO, EPIC training if needed, time in mental health area and front triage, followed by a 12-hour shift with a preceptor
- Unit manager approves requested time off
- Holiday coverage required for 2 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Scrubs may be any professional color
- Modest piercings (studs only) permitted; tattoos must not be offensive
- Free parking available in designated areas
- Fast-paced, team-oriented culture that is traveler-friendly, with many travelers extending their contracts
