Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg (ENT/Plastic Surgery) position requiring 2+ years of experience and telemetry skills at a Level I Trauma/Teaching hospital.
Details
- ENT and Plastic Surgery unit within a Medical-Surgical department
- Cares for patients with tracheostomies, total laryngectomies, free flap monitoring, carotid blow-out precautions, drains, and tube feedings
- 1:5 patient ratio
- Telemetry monitoring required
- Day shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 AM-7:30 PM)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within service line to meet facility needs
- EPIC charting system used; experience required
Requirements
- Active MO or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
- Current BLS and ACLS certification required
- BSN preferred
- 2 years of Med/Surg experience required; will consider 1+ year with Level I Trauma/Teaching Facility experience
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, blood product administration, and port access
- Skilled in tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, colostomy/ileostomy management, and oxygen administration
- Telemetry monitoring experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Charge experience preferred
Additional Information
- Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital with over 1,200 staffed beds
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Provides direct care including drain management, flap monitoring post-op, tracheostomy/laryngectomy care, tube feeding, and IV access
- Participates in rapid response/code team activations as needed
- First-time travelers will be considered
- No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius
- Maximum of 7 days RTO allowed per 13-week contract, with no RTO during the first week of the assignment
- Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
- Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period before a required 3-month break in service
