Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg position on 5N requiring WV or compact RN license and at least 2 years of recent nursing experience.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit (5N) with oncology patient population preferred but not required
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6
• Night shift, 4x12 hours, 7:00pm-7:30am
• Weekday shifts with every other weekend required
• Blocked scheduling in place
• Uses Cerner EMR
• IV start skills required

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required through AHA
• NIHSS certification required
• ONS/ONCC chemo-bio certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• IV Therapy/Infusion skills required including starting and maintaining IVs, PICC line care, and port access/management
• Experience with central line care and blood draws preferred
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Minimum 2 Manager and/or Charge Nurse references from within the past 2 years required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg unit with potential oncology caseload including chemotherapy administration, symptom management, and oncologic emergency response
• Scrubs not provided; burgundy and/or white scrubs required
• Non-billable Cerner training modules required prior to start, averaging 8 hours to complete
• Orientation held every other Monday
• Facility expects no more than 2-3 call-offs per contract due to attendance concerns
• Candidates must have a permanent address more than 100 miles from the facility; those between 75-100 miles may be considered case-by-case at the same rate
• Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from their last date of employment before returning as a traveler
• Current employees (perm or PRN) of the Vandalia Health System, including CAMC Health Systems, Mon Health Systems, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System, are not eligible for travel contracts within the system
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Travel experience not required; first-time travelers welcome to apply
