Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Level II Trauma Center, requiring 2 years of recent ICU experience and current Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Work in a high-acuity ICU within a Level II Trauma Center treating medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma patients
  • 1:2 patient ratios
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12 hours, 1900-0730
  • Float required between CVICU and NTICU, as well as to Telemetry, Acute Care (Neurology, Surgical, Ortho/Med), Observation, and ED boarding with 4-hour orientation for float units
  • Occasional floating to University District facility may be required
  • Must be flexible for weekend scheduling based on unit needs
  • No on-call requirements
  • Uses Epic EMR system
  • Common equipment includes PA catheters, Impella (right and left), ventilators, Cheeta, CRRT, IABP, Zoll cooling catheter, and Arctic Sun pads
  • Performs specialized procedures including chest tube insertion/removal, central line and PICC placement, bedside tracheostomy, Keo tube placement, IO insertion, intubation, post cardiac arrest cooling catheter placement, and removal of femoral/radial sheaths
  • Participates in code response, massive transfusion team, and serves as backup for Hospital Cardiac Arrest Team

Requirements

  • Active or pending Washington RN license accepted at submission, with proof of application required
  • 2 years of ICU experience required (1 year considered if recently completed in a large facility ICU setting)
  • Recent Epic EMR experience required
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required and must be in hand before start date
  • CCRN, CSC, SCRN, TCRN, TNCC, and TCAR certifications preferred
  • Previous trauma experience required
  • Strong skill set required including arterial line management, central/PICC line care, ventilator management, CRRT, continuous IV sedation, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, ABG interpretation, and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience with hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, BiPAP/CPAP management, and care of post cardiac cath/intervention patients required
  • Two professional references from the past 2 years required, with at least one from a supervisor or charge nurse

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to a complex and diverse ICU patient population including trauma, cardiac, neuro, and medical cases
  • Scrub color is unrestricted and not facility-provided
  • Parking is free
  • Prior travel experience strongly preferred, with 2-3 completed assignments; first-time travelers will not be considered
  • Local candidates within 60 miles of the facility are not accepted
  • Previous PeaceHealth employees must have been separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Start date may be delayed up to 8 weeks if licensure is still in process at time of offer
  • Guaranteed 36 hours per week
