Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Level II Trauma Center, requiring recent Epic experience and prior trauma ICU background.
Details
- Work in a high-acuity ICU within a Level II Trauma Center treating medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma patients
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:00 PM
- Floats between CVICU and NTICU, as well as Telemetry, Acute Care (neurology, surgical, ortho/med), Observation, and ED boarding with 4-hour orientation for float units
- Weekend flexibility required based on unit needs
- No on-call requirements
- Common diagnoses include GIB, ETOH withdrawal, DKA, sepsis, COVID, ARDS, CHF, CKD, AKI, donor care, post cardiac arrest, psychiatric symptoms, MSOF, CVA, and ICH
- Performs specialized procedures including chest tube insertion, central line and PICC placement, bedside tracheostomy, Keo tube placement, IO insertion, intubation, post cardiac arrest cooling catheter placement, and removal of femoral/radial sheaths
- Uses equipment such as PA catheters, right and left Impella, ventilators, Cheeta monitors, CRRT, IABP, Zoll cooling catheters, and Arctic Sun pads
- Charts using Epic
Requirements
- Active RN license (pending license accepted)
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required and must be in hand before start date
- CCRN, CSC, SCRN, TCRN, TNCC, and TCAR certifications preferred
- 2 years of ICU experience preferred; 1 year considered if recently employed at a large facility
- Recent Epic EMR experience required
- Previous trauma ICU experience required
- Must have completed 2-3 prior travel assignments
- Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multi-system organ failure care, thermoregulation protocols, arterial and central line management, PICC line management, continuous IV sedation, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and wound/drain care
- Experience managing patients on BiPAP, CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula
- Experience with temp pacer management required
- Experience with Nitric Oxide preferred
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to a diverse ICU population including trauma, cardiac, and neurological patients
- Assist with codes, massive transfusion protocols, and serve as backup for the Hospital Cardiac Arrest Team
- Flexible block scheduling preferred
- No RTO restrictions

- First-time travelers will not be considered
