Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Emergency Department position requiring an active IA or compact RN license and 1-2 years of acute care experience.
Details
- Regional health center with 217 licensed beds offering ED, Critical Care, Med/Surg, Acute Rehab, OB, Pediatrics, Cath Lab, Diagnostics, Wound Care, Pain Clinic, and Sleep Lab services
- 17-bed Emergency Department seeing approximately 40 visits per day
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Primarily adult and geriatric patient population
- Uses MediTech EHR
- Shift runs 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM
- Every other weekend required
- Call coverage needed 24/7 to cover daily volume
Requirements
- Active RN license (IA or Compact) required
- Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS, and TNCC
- 1-2 years of experience in an acute care facility required
- Travel and similar-size facility experience preferred
- Iowa SING background check required, including criminal and child abuse portions, with no instant or statewide searches accepted
- Mandatory reporter certification required for both child and adult
- 10-panel drug screening required, including opiates
- Titers required within the last 12 months for MMR, Hep B, Varicella, and TB
- Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration

- Provide emergency department nursing care to a primarily adult and geriatric patient population
- Located in Ottumwa, IA, known for its river trails and as the Video Game Capital of the World
- Low cost of living in the area
- Candidates must reside 60 miles or greater from the facility to be eligible for travel rate
- Candidates cannot have worked as perm staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months
- Candidates cannot be employed elsewhere full time
