Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN with chemotherapy administration skills and an active HI RN license for a Medical Oncology contract position.
Details
- Medical Oncology unit with 18 semi-private bays
- Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
- 13-week contract assignment
- Epic EMR used for documentation
- Holiday coverage required
Requirements
- Active HI RN license required
- Minimum 3 years of oncology nursing experience
- Proficiency with Epic EMR required
- Demonstrated competency in chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy administration
- Skilled in accessing port-a-caths, PICCs, and Hickman catheters
- Experience performing venipuncture and managing PICC and Hickman dressings
Additional Information
- Independently administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and various injections per provider orders
- Access central lines and perform related dressing changes and lab draws
- Monitor and document patient responses to IV therapies and treatments
- Notify the Medical Oncologist or Nurse Practitioner of unusual occurrences and initiate emergency action as needed
- Provide patient, family, and caregiver education on medications, treatments, side effects, and disease management
- Verify informed consent prior to chemotherapy administration
- Demonstrate proper handling, administration, and disposal of hazardous drugs and appropriate PPE usage
- Must arrive the Thursday before the start date to attend an employee health appointment the following Friday
