Description
American Traveler is hiring a seasonal travel RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring 2 years of ICU experience and NIHSS certification.
Details
- Neuro ICU (NSICU) unit in a 32-bed hospital setting
- Patient ratio of 2:1
- Night shift schedule, 7P-7A
- 3 12-hour shifts per week, every other weekend (or 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule)
- Floating required to like units including Cardiac Telemetry, Progressive Care, Burn Unit, and ED Inpatient Overflow as per hospital needs
- Uses Meditech documentation system
- Cares for trauma patients, post-op surgical patients, and stroke patients
- Performs hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, chest tube management, and cardiac rhythm identification
- Unit performs procedures including chest tube placement, ventriculostomy, moderate sedation, CRRT, therapeutic hypothermia, ECMO, arterial line and central line placement
Requirements
- Active RN license (MO or Compact)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- TNCC certification preferred but not required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Advanced skills required in hemodynamic and ventilator management
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- Missouri requires two professional references
Additional Information
- Located within a Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center
- Required uniform: navy scrub top (no t-shirts), navy or black scrub bottoms, solid navy, white, or black jackets and undershirts
- Unit includes a 16-bed MICU and 16-bed SICU
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
- First-time travelers may be considered

This MRI department is amazing! The nurses there are awesome! My experience there was exceptional! The patient care was outstanding!!
Cons
The pay was the only thing that was lacking. But that is what it was! No regrets about working there! Also the housing situation was not great. But that has nothing to do with the facility!
