Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Cardiac Telemetry unit requiring cardiac telemetry or PCU/ICU experience and NIHSS certification.
Details
- Work on a 29-bed Cardiac Telemetry unit (4 North CCU)
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Unit supported by Charge Nurse, Unit Secretary, and PCTs
- Uses Alaris IV pumps, SCD machines, Hill Rom beds, dinamap monitors, Welch Allyn vital machines, wound vacs, temporary pacemakers, telemetry monitors, EKG machines, bladder scanners, Doppler, and Imobile communication devices
- Documentation completed in Meditech
- 13-week assignment on a 7P-7A night shift schedule
- Full-time scheduling required, including 3 weekend shifts per scheduling period
- Floating required to units where competency has been demonstrated
Requirements
- Active MO or Compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in cardiac telemetry or PCU/ICU setting required
- Able to read and interpret EKGs and telemetry strips
- Experience with post cardiac procedural care required, including ablations, cardiac catheterizations, post-op day 1 open heart, and permanent pacemaker placements
- Able to administer and titrate IV medications such as insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone
- Experience performing IV insertions, NGT placement and maintenance, chest tube maintenance, temporary pacemaker care, and Foley insertions
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Two professional references required for Missouri placements
- No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on a fast-paced cardiac telemetry unit with a tenured, family-like staff
- Adhere to patient experience standards, including bedside shift report involvement, personal connections, and prompt response to call lights
- Navy blue scrubs required (black scrub pants may be paired with a navy blue top)
- Unit has received AHA recognition for Get With The Guidelines-Heart Failure GOLD PLUS with Honor Roll
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Many contract staff have transitioned into full-time roles with this department

The pay was the only thing that was lacking. But that is what it was! No regrets about working there! Also the housing situation was not great. But that has nothing to do with the facility!
