Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring 2+ years of experience and prior travel assignment experience.
Details
- Acute care setting on an 18-bed MedSurg/Infectious Disease unit with all private rooms
- Patient ratios of 1:5-6, or 1:4 if caring for COVID patients
- Unit typically staffed with 3-4 RNs per shift plus 2 CNAs
- Patient population includes infectious disease, isolation, COVID, MRSA, and C-Diff cases
- Remote telemetry monitoring from a separate floor; RNs are not required to read or interpret strips
- No cardiac drip titration required; may titrate Heparin and other standard MedSurg IV medications and antibiotics
- Respiratory therapy manages CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow patients; no ventilators on unit
- 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0730 with a half-hour lunch break
- Every-other-weekend requirement (Fri/Sat/Sun for nights)
- Holiday coverage may be required depending on unit staffing needs
- Possible low census call-off depending on contract terms
- Travelers float first, required to float to any MedSurg unit; if floated to Tele, assignments stay within skillset
- Uses EPIC EMR
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- BLS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Strong knowledge of MedSurg and infectious disease/isolation precautions required
- Unexpired copy of driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide care to patients requiring isolation precautions for various infectious diseases
- Charge Nurse coverage is available 24/7; night charge nurse always carries a full patient assignment
- Orientation includes 1 day of EPIC training followed by 1 day with a preceptor on the floor, then independent on day 3
- Scrub color is royal blue; scrub jackets are optional but must be royal blue with no hoodies or sweat-jackets allowed
- Local candidates are not accepted; must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must wait 2 years before reapplying
- Travelers cannot work within the WVU system for more than 1 cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
