Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring at least 2 years of experience and a KS or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg unit in a Level 3 trauma hospital with 32 beds
• Patient ratio of 1:4 with nurse aide support at 1:5
• Common diagnoses include CHF, hypertension, chest pain work-ups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, GI bleeding, and acute renal failure
• Uses EPIC EMR
• RNs are required to titrate drips including analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives
• RT equipment used includes CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and ventilators
• Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling allowed
• Weekend requirement of at least six shifts per six-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required
• Floating required with priority given to travelers, and possible floating within Zone 4 in cases of extreme need
• Call or standby requirements determined by nurse manager
• Charge nurse role exists on the unit

Requirements

• Active KS or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• NIHSS skills required
• BSN not required
• Driver's license copy required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg unit including drip titration and respiratory equipment management
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Clinicians must be in-state for the week of orientation, even if initial modules are completed remotely
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to meet state radius requirements
• Travelers hired into this position are expected to float within the designated zone and should secure housing accordingly
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any facility associated with the health system within the past year
• First-time travelers may be considered for this role
