Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Cath Lab/EP RN with 2 years of recent specialty experience and required on-call availability including weekends.
Details
- Work in the Cath Lab/Interventional Cardiology/Hybrid OR/EP unit of a hospital
- Average daily census of 4 procedures per lab with 16 visits per day
- Patient ratios of 1:4 during days and 1:3 during nights
- Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- On-call required, including weekends
- Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
- Uses EPIC charting system
Requirements
- Active RN license, Missouri or compact in hand required at time of consideration
- Both Kansas and Missouri licenses, or compact, required due to potential floating needs
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience required, including a full year within the past 12 months with no employment gaps greater than 90 days
- Previous charge nurse experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Extensive cath lab procedural skills required, including diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization, cardiac stent placement, IABP placement/removal, Impella insertion, PCI, TAVR, Watchman procedure, pacemaker insertion, and rotablator atherectomy
- Skilled in hemodynamic monitoring including right/left heart catheterization and pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring
- Proficient in procedural sedation administration and monitoring, along with related medications (antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, vasopressors, thrombolytics, reversal agents)
- Experience with vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose) and sheath removal/monitoring
- Competent in EKG/ECG interpretation, dysrhythmia management, and ventilator management
- IV therapy skills including central line assistance, PICC line care, and blood product administration
- EPIC charting experience required
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care in diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures
- Circulate and scrub for cath lab and EP procedures as needed
- Monitor patients receiving procedural sedation and manage emergency medications as needed
- Scrubs provided by facility
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Must reside outside a 75-mile radius to be eligible; no local candidates accepted
- Maximum RTO of 7 days permitted
- Former BJC/Saint Luke's employees must wait 18 months with a 3-month break in service to return as a traveler, and permanent employees must wait 1 year
- Travel partners are not accepted for this position
