Description
American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry/Stepdown RN for a night shift PCU position requiring drip titration experience and WI or compact RN licensure.
Details
- PCU/IMC-Tele unit in an acute care hospital setting with 30 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, may stretch to 1:5 with sick calls or added CNA support
- Patient population includes cardiac, NSTEMI, post cath lab, afib, CHF, GI bleed, detox, respiratory distress, and sepsis cases
- RNs required to titrate drips including nitro, diltiazem, insulin, heparin, and amiodarone
- Charge RN takes an assignment of 2 patients
- CNA support available at a 1:10-12 ratio depending on census
- Uses RT equipment including CPAP, BiPAP, and Optiflow
- Tele techs monitor and read strips using GE monitors
- 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a), no self-scheduling
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Call/standby requirement
- Floating required to MS or IMC overflow/ICU
- Charting completed in Cerner, currently transitioning to Epic
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA)
- EKG course certification required
- Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience required
- Post cath lab experience beneficial but not required
- Art line experience appreciated but not required
- 2 professional references required for consideration, one from a supervisor and one from a peer or supervisor
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care for cardiac and stepdown-level patients, including drip management and monitoring
- Unit/department-specific orientation of up to 3 days
- Navy blue scrub color required
- Candidates must clock in and out at the facility
- Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local
- Former permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
