Description
American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist for an Acute Rehab unit requiring prior acute rehab or acute care experience and a Utah PT license.
Details
- Acute Rehab Center (ARC) unit with 16 beds
- Patient ratio of 3-5 patients per day, seen in two 45-minute blocks totaling 90 minutes daily
- No therapy aides on staff; PCTs assist occasionally when available
- Uses specialized equipment including Sara Stedy, Vector, BITS, BURT, Bioness H200 UE, ARJO and Liko mobility/lift devices, walkers, canes, and wheelchairs
- Documentation completed in EPIC and UDS
- Schedule includes every Friday-Sunday (8-9 hour shifts) plus one mid-week shift on ARC or acute care side
- Cross-training on the acute care side occurs during week two
- Floating to acute care side required when ARC census is low
Requirements
- BLS certification required
- MSPT or DPT degree from an accredited PT program required
- Must have passed the NPTE
- Utah state PT license required (license required if applicable)
- Minimum 2 years of experience preferred
- Previous acute rehab or acute care experience preferred
- Strong understanding of neuro, multi-trauma, and medically complex diagnoses required
- Ability to complete thorough chart reviews including lab values and weight bearing precautions
- Experience with mobility devices, lift systems, back braces, and UE/LE positioning devices
- Strong clinical reasoning, documentation, communication, and time management skills required
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include neuro re-education, gait training, balance and wheelchair training, cognitive re-education, vestibular training, energy conservation, BUE/BLE ROM and strengthening, orthotic use and fit, and home safety/family training
- Join a tenured, close-knit therapy team that collaborates well with nursing and other disciplines
- Required uniform includes gray scrub top with black scrub pants and closed-toed shoes, or gray business casual shirt with black pants
- No logoed shirts, jeans, leggings, or shorts permitted
- Badge must be worn at all times while on duty
- 30-minute lunch break required for shifts over 6 hours
- Unit recognized as a Top Performer within UDSMR in FY 2021 and 2024, and a 2023 Unit of Distinction for Quality Care and Culture of Engagement
- Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
