Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist II - Pediatrics with 2+ years of experience for a 13-week assignment at a pediatric respiratory care unit.

Details

• Pediatric Respiratory Care Services unit
• Day shift, 7:00am - 7:00pm
• 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week, 36 hours weekly
• On-call required approximately 6 shifts per 6 weeks
• Weekend coverage required approximately 1 weekend per 6 weeks
• Must be able to work facility holidays
• May involve pediatric and neonatal patient transport per Air Care protocol when assigned to Carolina Air Care
• May involve management of extracorporeal circulation for cardiac and respiratory support when assigned to ECMO

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
• Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Current RRT certification through NBRC required
• At least one of the following required depending on practice area: ACLS, NRP, PALS, or CPFT, or an advanced practice certificate for moderate sedation in Bronchoscopy Lab
• License required if applicable
• Skilled in airway management, ventilator care, specialized ventilator modes, tracheostomy care, and endotracheal intubation/extubation
• Experience with aerosol medication delivery and pulmonary function testing
• Ability to interpret clinical and technical information and document findings accurately
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Mathematical and reasoning skills for clinical problem-solving

Additional Information

• Provide airway management, ventilator management, oxygen therapy, and aerosol therapy to assigned patients
• Perform tracheostomy care, tube changes, and endotracheal intubations/extubations as needed
• May perform advanced procedures including UAC, UVC, IV insertion, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, ABGs, and blood glucose monitoring when working with Air Care
• Functions independently with minimal supervision and serves as a resource to other staff
• Maintains and continues to develop clinical knowledge and skills
