Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care/Stepdown unit position requiring DC RN licensure and prior travel assignment experience.

Details

  • Work in the Intermediate Care (IMC) Stepdown unit of a hospital
  • Telemetry patient population requiring management of dysrhythmias
  • Care of ventilated patients including ventilator, BiPAP/CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula support
  • Administration of cardiac drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Nicardipine, and Heparin
  • Uses Cerner EMR
  • Rotating day (7:00-19:00) and night (19:00-7:00) shifts, 3x12 hours
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holiday coverage required as needed

Requirements

  • Active DC RN license required (pending status accepted with proof at submission, must be in hand prior to start)
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience required within the last 7 years
  • At least 1 previous travel assignment required
  • PCU/IMC/Stepdown and telemetry experience required
  • Cerner EMR experience required
  • Experience managing dysrhythmias and cardiac drips required
  • Ventilator, BiPAP/CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula experience required
  • Moderate sedation experience is a plus but not mandatory

Additional Information

  • Provide stepdown-level nursing care including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
  • Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with at least 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms
  • Candidates must reside within a 60-mile radius to qualify for local status, which affects pay rate
  • Local candidates accepted at a lower rate
  • RTO limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract and not permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
  • Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
  • First-time travelers will not be considered due to travel experience requirement
