Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT required, CRT considered with experience) for a high-acuity hospital respiratory care department serving adult, pediatric, and neonatal critical care patients.
Details
- Respiratory Therapy department in a large hospital with 260-280 beds and a daily census of 250-260
- Patient population spans adult critical care, pediatric critical care, neonatal critical care, and general inpatient respiratory care
- Must be prepared to care for NICU patients when required
- Busy, fast-paced department
- EMR: Epic (required); medication dispensing via Omnicell
- Uses ventilators including Draeger V500 and Savina 300, 3100A and 3100B High Frequency Oscillators, Bunnell High Frequency Jet, and Hamilton C1
- Additional equipment includes ResMed APAP/CPAP/Bi-level, Airvo2 high flow devices, Cough Assist, Incourage vest, ABL90 blood gas machines, IPV, and Vero iNO device
- 6/12 hour variable shifts, 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation every other weekend
- Floats throughout the hospital and ED as needed but not to other facilities unless contract specifies otherwise
- On-call requirements vary by facility/requisition, including potential call coverage at Spearfish or during special events like the Sturgis Rally
Requirements
- RRT required; CRT considered based on experience
- South Dakota RCP license required prior to start (license required if applicable)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- NRP certification required if caring for NICU patients
- Associate's degree required
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Critical care and general respiratory care experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- First-time travelers considered upon manager review with strong experience
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care across adult, pediatric, and neonatal critical care units as well as general inpatient care
- Supported by Charge RT/Respiratory Clinical Specialist available 24/7, along with supervisors, manager, and director
- Facility and unit orientation provided
- Required to work holidays falling within the contract dates
- Time off requests of up to 7 days may be accommodated if the department allows, though taking a full week off requires contract extension
- No time off approved during the Sturgis Bike Rally (first three weeks of August)
- Scrub color: pewter
- Free parking available
- Does not accept local candidates within 100 miles of the facility
- Facility is known for being traveler-friendly and welcomes contract renewals
