Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of ED experience and Cerner proficiency.
Details
- 32-bed Emergency Department within a 355-bed Duke Lifepoint hospital housing Brain, Cancer, Heart, and Lung Centers, Orthopedics, General & Vascular Surgery, and a Level 3 NICU
- Patient population ranges from birth to death with ratios of 1:4 to 1:5
- Fast-paced environment handling all trauma cases, though the facility does not hold an official trauma designation
- Uses Cerner EMR and critical care equipment
- Shift is 1p-1a with rotating every other weekend
- Floating required to other areas based on competencies (helping hands model)
- On-call may be required with push-back hours depending on census
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or compact) required
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and NIHSS
- Must have CPI or HWC certification completed prior to start (cannot be completed onsite)
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Strong critical thinking and patient/family communication skills required
- Must be able to maintain stamina in a fast-paced environment
- Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- Deliver emergency care across a wide range of diagnoses and treatments, including strokes, STEMIs, and trauma
- Energetic, knowledgeable, and adaptable personality fit preferred
- Scrubs of any color currently accepted; hoodies and inappropriate t-shirts not permitted
- Must start on one of the designated 2026 orientation dates (October 26, November 9, November 16, or December 7)
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
- Candidates cannot have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the past 12 months
- Candidates cannot be employed elsewhere full-time while on assignment
- Local candidates may be considered, but must live 60 miles or greater from the facility to qualify for the travel rate
